Privacy Policy

The Australian Steel Institute (ASI) is committed to protecting the privacy of your personal and business information. When you visit the ASI website, we may collect and store the following information about you and your organisation: the name of the domain from which you access the Internet; the date and time you access the site.

At no time will your personal information be disclosed to another company for that company’s independent use. All business information provided is treated as commercial-in-confidence unless permission is specifically given to circulate it. Some usage information collected for internal management purposes may include measuring the number of visitors to specific sections of the site and who referred the visitors, which help us keep the site relevant and useful.

The ASI primarily collects this information for:

Membership – During the application for membership of the ASI your information is collected as an essential part of this process. This information is for internal purposes only and used in a manner that allows ASI to fulfil the specific membership offering.

Event registration - Information you provide in registering for events is to ensure we offer similar events to you at the next opportunity. Your details are only disclosed outside the ASI for jointly organised events and only to the industry body concerned.

Industry editorial development – Whenever the ASI collects information or comment, any written account is provided to the source person for courtesy checks prior to publication.

Updating the Industry Directory – Whilst the Directory is publicly available on the Internet, a password is issued to the nominated information contact with each ASI member organisation to ensure only they are able to update details as required. The ASI administration staff have access purely for grammatical and accuracy checking and the member is automatically informed via email when the ASI approves the listing.

If you identify yourself through any of the activities mentioned above or for any other reason by sending an email or submitting a form, we collect and store your email address and other information you provide. We endeavour to the best of our abilities to tailor emails to suit your interests. If you do not want us to contact you, please unsubscribe or let us know by contacting the Membership Services Officer at

Please note we cannot guarantee the security of any data or information you send to us.
