The Australian Steel Institute (ASI) provides marketing and technical leadership to promote Australian-made steel as the preferred material to building/construction and manufacturing industries. The ASI organises technical seminars with similar bodies for associated sectors like engineering, architecture, building and construction. It hosts regular presentations of exemplary steel applications to professionals and advocates Australian steel to major project proponents, top government officials and politicians. The ASI also forges stronger relationships with project managers and major proponents through direct representation. Through its database of key influencers, the ASI keeps the industry attuned on Best Practice through its publications like Steel Australia magazine. The ASI's annual industry awards program acknowledges excellence in the use of steel.
Students
ASI provides continuing education of industry professionals and helps educate and train university students. The annual ASI Undergraduate Steel Design Awards encourage students to strive for excellence in steel design. Academic membership is offered to all departments, faculties and schools of engineering, architecture or building at a university and/or college of technical and further education (TAFE), offering courses that further the steel industry as part of their curricula.
